about me/blue light hypnotherapy
I'm Kevan Laybourn and I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist.
My background is originally in emergency medical care. I started out as an Emergency Medical Technician for the London Ambulance Service in 1999. I progressed to Paramedic and then trained as an Emergency Care Practitioner.
In 2004 I also started working in NHS Walk-In Centres, Minor Injury Units, followed by Accident & Emergency/Urgent Care (children and adults). I have multiple qualifications and extensive experience in this field. I have spent most of my career dealing with patients with acute minor illnesses and injuries.
However, in my many years in the NHS I have seen so many colleagues (as well as patients) suffering from stress and anxiety. I've seen first hand how difficult this makes their lives and their ability to care for others as well as themselves. I felt that there was more I could do to help.
I trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist under the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. I qualified with a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy in early 2018 and I am now registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register/General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, as well as maintaining my registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I am interested in helping clients who suffer with stress and anxiety. I am also able to help clients with general relaxation, phobias and smoking cessation amongst other things. If you think I may be able to help you, do get in touch. If I am unable to help, I will be honest and tell you. I will also recommend who I think you should get in touch with if I feel I am not qualified to see you.
I am not, nor do I pretend to be, a GP, a psychiatrist or a psychologist. I would always recommend you seek advice from one of these specialists if you have an reason to doubt that hypnotherapy is for you.
